The role
As Founding Engineer you'll help us define how we should use software to serve our biggest user needs and build our platform from zero to one. You’ll be the expert on our codebase and be an integral piece in defining the roadmap. You will scope the right projects, and be a core part in driving Marloo’s success.
In the years to come, you will dictate your own path. You can grow into a super individual contributor role or an engineering leadership role. You’ll be mentored by founders, investors, and operators that have done this before.
Must haves
- Excellent full-stack / back-end coding skills. We prioritise talent over experience
- Commitment to the core mission (you’re passionate about our product, driven by the mission, and excited by the technical challenges)
- Strong understanding of business, product, and growth (we like engineers with a product focus)
- Passionate about learning (you’ll go 0-1 multiple times throughout the company’s journey)
- Values alignment (you are customer obsessed, focused on impact, curious, move fast, radically open-minded, and want to do no harm)
- High-risk tolerance
- A team-first mentality; you are interested in playing the long-term game with the other founding team members
- AI-native: You use AI tools daily to architect, build, and debug full stack features, moving quickly from idea to production with minimal hand-holding. You automate grunt work, document as you go, and ship clean, scalable code fast.
- Based in Wellington (or willing to move). Willing to prioritise in-person collaboration. Also able to travel internationally as needed
