Simon Hepple, a wealth adviser at Pie Funds, prides himself on meaningful client relationships. Simon was initially sceptical about AI recording client meetings, but after just a few months with Marloo, he says it's completely transformed how he works.
Before Marloo, Simon faced that familiar industry challenge: excellent client meetings followed by hours of admin. Thinking back to a recent day with seven back-to-back client meetings Simon says he knew he’d be less available for his clients as he hunkered down to do file notes and follow-up tasks.
"I can just remember for the next two to three days, I couldn't see anyone because I was just doing all the background work. I love being with my clients, but I was almost dreading doing all the admin that came after."
Now with Marloo, Simon's perspective has completely shifted.
"Being able to quickly put together the file notes of all the meetings – with two clicks of the mouse. It's hard to put that into words, now I can look forward to booking my day out knowing the admin is taken care of."
Simon’s favourite thing is getting to know his clients. Who they are, where they’re at, what they value. So that’s a big part of the meetings he has. Now he uses Marloo's industry-specific intelligence to automatically distinguish between casual conversation and what’s going to inform the advice he’s giving.
"Even in hour-long meetings where the first 45 minutes might be purely social, Marloo somehow manages to cut through and know what’s relevant. So when I start talking about the investment portfolio, goals and objectives, Marloo knows what’s important."
Simon's file notes are now more comprehensive, having expanded from brief paragraphs to comprehensive two-to-three-page summaries.
"I look back on them, and I think I couldn't have put that more succinctly myself. When I read file notes I've taken in the last two to three months since I've been using Marloo, I'm thinking, "I remember that meeting exactly."
More importantly for Simon, Marloo has freed him up to focus on what he loves most about his work – building meaningful client relationships.
“The fun part of my work is actually connecting with the clients and doing the recommendations and the advice. With Marloo more of my day is spent doing things that I enjoy."
How quickly did you start seeing value from Marloo?
I was very much not expecting a lot, and it exceeded it. And every time I use it, I seem to get more and more surprised at the level of detail. I've been in really busy restaurants with lots of background noise, and I thought there's no way it's going to pick up on this meeting. I come out thinking, how did it capture all that information?
How has Marloo reduced your stress levels around meeting admin and follow-up tasks?
My personality isn't such that I'm typically stressed anyway, but I do find work a hell of a lot more pleasurable as a result of having Marloo simplifying my admin.
Can you imagine what it would be like working without Marloo now?
I'd be gutted. I suppose you can always go back to the old ways that you used to operate, but I'd be sighing and thinking about it as like moving from the horse to the automobile and then going back to the horse. Sure, it can still take you to the destination, but it's not going to be quite the same sort of ride.
How much time is Marloo saving you per week?
It's probably saving me about seven hours a week. But remember, I'm still in the infancy stage of Marloo. Fast forward another six months, and it might be as much as half my week saved in time. It's streamlining everything, and once we get statements of advice put into a template, I think it's going to be next level again.
